Anyone out there know about vocal cords? Is cancer the only thing that causes a sore throat and hoarseness?

Do contact ulcers (vocal) hurt or cause a sore throat? What else besides cancer can cause sore throat and hoarseness?

No, I believe it could be strep throat or maybe tonsilitis? I’ve had both and they both start out with a sore throat. Hope that helps!

ulcers can cause a sore throat yes, but there are many other things that can cause a sore throat too. most often a sore throat is due to an infection, something like strep or tonsilitis

There are plenty of things that can cause a sore throat. I’m assuming you mean a chronic sore throat and hoarseness - one that doesn’t go away, or that keeps recurring? A common cause of this is nodules or polyps on the vocal chords. They are more common in people that use their voice a lot - like singers, or in my friend’s case, an aerobics instructor using her voice to call out instructions during fitness classes. If you have a problem with your throat, the only way to alleviate your worry is to have a doctor check it out. On here, all we can do is guess.
