How can a company get access to your credit report if they dont have your social security number?

Im disputing a bill from a website company and they sent my account to a collections agency,i checked my credit report and i see that agency has made an inquiry.My name is common and they never had my social so how did they do it?

They don’t always need your SSN…..WIth Equifax they can cross reference name, address, date of birth and other info to verify the right person and place info on credit files

Any two of the following is needed to gain access to your credit reports:
-name
-address
-SSN
-date of birth

Write to the 3 credit reporting agencies and mention that you are disputing a bill.
