my father had a stroke about 8 years ago and now his foot and ankle are becoming swollen what is the cause?

my father’s brother had a stroke to and his foot and ankle becme to do the same things. months later he died !! i am just wondering if my father will be ok !!! and if its something i really need to worry about!

Swelling of the foot and ankle can be the result of multiple things his best bet is to go and see a doctor. Edema also known as swelling can be a sign and symptom of a heart problem or just from standing to long or a blood clot in the leg. I don’t mean to scare you but without a doctor to look at it you just can’t be to sure. A lot of times this issue can be resolved if a doctor can take a look at the swelling and see if has what they call pitting edema in other word swelling that when you touch it the skin will dimple and return to normal within a certain time frame. All of these can be sign and symptom of something really simple to something major. Please tell him to go and see a doctor and get this check it may or may not be related to his stroke. I know this may not help to much but it may give you a general idea of what the condition may be related to. PLEASE GO AND SEE A DOCTOR. good luck to you and your dad
